The Ten Plagues
(continued)

Exodus
9:8-35
The
sixth plague God sent was
boils on their bodies.
The
LORD told
Moses
and Aaron to take
handfuls of ashes from a furnace, and
let Moses scatter it toward the heavens before
Pharaoh, and the fine dust in all the land of Egypt would
cause boils that break out in sores on man and beast throughout all of
Egypt. So
they took ashes from the furnace and before before Pharaoh, Moses
scattered the ashes toward heaven. They caused boils
to break out in sores on man and beast. The magicians had boils
too, and they could not stand before Moses.
The
seventh plague God sent was
thunder, hail and fire.
Then the LORD told
Moses to rise early in the morning and go before Pharaoh, and tell
him to let His peple go to serve Him. This time He would send all
His plagues so that he would know that there was none like the LORD in
all the earth. He would show His power so that His name would be
declared in all the earth, and about the same time the next day He
would cause very heavy hail to rain
down, such as has not been in Egypt since the beginning. Pharaoh was warned to
gather his livestock and all that he had in the field, for the hail
would come down on every man and every animal which in the
field and they would die.
Those who
feared the word of
the LORD among the Pharaoh's servants fled to the houses.
But he who did not regard the word of the LORD left his servants and
his livestock in the field.
The next day
the LORD sent thunder and hail in all of Egypt. The fire darted
to the ground. The fire mingled with the hail and it was very
heavy. And the hail
struck over the whole land of Egypt all that was in the
field, both man and beast. The hail struck every herb of the
field
and broke every tree in the field.
Only the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were,
there was no hail.
The Pharoah
asked Moses and Aaron
to stop the thunder and hail
Then Pharaoh
sent for Moses and Aaron and told them he
had sinned. He told them that the LORD was righteous, and his
people were wicked.
the Pharaoh asked them to ask the LORD to stop the thunder and hail and
that he would let them go.
So Moses told
him that after he left the city, he would
spread out his hands to the LORD and the thunder would stop , and
so would the hail so that he would know that the earth was the
LORD'S. But Moses knew
that the Pharaoh still did not fear the LORD God.
But
Moses left the city and spread out his hands to
the LORD. The thunder and the hail stopped. When the
Pharaoh saw that the rain, hail, and the thunder had stopped. He
hardened his heart, and sinned again. The Pharaoh still would not
let the LORD'S people go.
Exodus 10:1-29
The eighth
plauge God sent was Locust.
The LORD told
Moses to go to Pharaoh for the LORD had hardened his heart and
the hearts
of his servants. The LORD had shown these signs before him
so that he would
know that He was the
LORD.”
Moses and Aaron went into Pharaoh
and told him what the LORD had to say. The LORD asked him
how long he would refuse to let His people go and humble himself.
If he refused again, the LORD would send a plague of locusts into his
territory. They would cover the earth. They
would fill all their houses. Then they left Pharaoh.
Then Pharaoh’s servants told him to let the
LORD'S people go. So the Pharaoh brought Moses and Aaron before
him again, and the Pharaoh asked them which ones would be going.
Moses told him that they would be going
with their young and old, sons and daughters, and with their flocks and
herds.
Then he said to them, “The LORD had better
be with you when I let you
and your little ones go! Beware, for evil is ahead of you. Then they were
driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
Then the LORD told Moses to stretch out his hand over the land of
Egypt. So Moses
stretched out his rod over the
land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind on the land all that
day and all that night. When it was morning, the east wind
brought the locusts.
And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested on all
the territory of Egypt. They
were very severe; previously
there had been no
such locusts as they, nor shall there be such after them.
For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was
darkened; and they ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the
trees which the hail had left. So there remained nothing green on the
trees or on the plants of the field throughout all the land of Egypt.
Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron to come quickly, and told them
he had
sinned against the LORD their God. He asked them to forgive him
this sin and asked to have the LORD take away the plague. Again the LORD
caused a very strong west wind, which took away the locusts and
blew them into the Red Sea. All the locust were gone, but the LORD
hardened the Pharaoh's heart again and he would not let His people
go.
The
ninth plague God sent was
Darkness over the land.
Then the LORD
told Moses to stretch out his hand toward heaven so that there
was darkness over
the land of Egypt for three days.
But all the children of Israel had light in their homes.
The Pharaoh called
Moses again and told him they could go serve the LORD, but they were to
keep their flocks and herds there.
Moses told them they had to give them sacrifices and burnt offerings to
sacrifice to
the LORD.
They had to take some of their livestock.
But the LORD hardened
Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.
Then Pharaoh told him to go away and not to see him anymore. For
if he did, he would die. Moses told him he would never see his
face again.
Exodus
Chapter 12:29-31
The
tenth plague God sent was the
death of all the firstborn sons
The Lord
told His people (the Israelites) to prepare a meal and take the blood
of a lamb and put it on the doorpost of their homes. All those
who had obeyed would be spared the death of their firstborn son.
God's people, the Israelites, obeyed the LORD.
And when
midnight came the LORD struck all the firstborn in the land of
Egypt. The firstborn of Pharaoh to the captive in the dungeon
plus all the firstborn of livestock. So Pharaoh got
up
in the night, and so did all his servants, and all the Egyptians. There
was not a house where there was not one dead, so there was a great cry
in Egypt.
Then
the Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron that night, and asked them go
and leave them and go serve their LORD. He finally let them go.
