CONCLUSION:
Rebekah knew that Esau was angry with Jacob because he had bought
his birthright but also recieved the blessing from his father
Isaac. Esau being the oldest son was suppose to recieve his
father's blessing. Esau wanted to kill Jacob. So, Rebekah
told Jacob to go to Haran and find a wife. She was protecting her
sons in this way from hurting each other. Isaac also told Jacob
to not take a wife from the land of Canaan but to take a wife from one
of Laban's daughters. At this time the Canaanites did not serve
God. Isaac wanted him to find a wife that believed in and trusted
God. As Jacob travelled to Haran, he stopped to sleep. He
used a stone as a pillow and after he fell asleep, he had a dream about
angels going up and down a ladder. The Lord spoke to Jacob in the
dream and told him that the land he was on would be given to his
descendants. He gave Jacob the same promise that He had given to
Abraham and Isaac. He also told him that He would be with him
wherever he went. Now Jacob knew that God was with him and had
given him many promises. He was not afraid anymore because God
was with him. Jacob named the place where the Lord had spoken to
him, Bethel. Bethel means House of God.
