| The Tower of Babel |
The people decided to build a
tower that reached to heaven.
God had told Noah and his sons
to multiply, and
fill the earth." (Genesis 9:1)
The people were disobeying God by congregating in one place to
become
a mighty people.
The LORD
came
down to see the city and the tower which they had built.
The LORD
saw that the people were one and spoke one language. The LORD did
not like what they were doing and they had left out God.
God came down and saw the tower
they were building.
So God decided to go down to the tower and confuse their language so that they would not be able to understand one another's speech.
God confused the language of all
the people so
that they could not understand each other and finish building the
tower.
So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they stopped building the city. So the name of the place was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth. Then the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
The Lord scattered the people
and the place
became known as Babel.
Shem was one hundred years old when he begot Arphaxad
which was two
years after the flood.
(The
geneology of
Shem can be found in Genesis 11:11-31)
